Community Plans for the Summer Term 2024

We will be holding workshops and coffee mornings in the new outdoor classroom during the summer term. We have taken parent views into account when planning these events.

62% of parents who responded to our questionnaires (Autumn 2023), were interested in maths workshops to help them to understand how to support their children at home.

Numicon

Maths in your hands

We will be holding Maths workshops to introduce to parents the use of manipulatives and Numicon. Based on a concrete-pictorial-abstract approach, Numicon uses structured imagery and apparatus to help children explore and understand mathematical concepts. It has been proven to have a positive impact on children’s enjoyment as well as giving them the confidence to demonstrate how and why they arrived at their answer.

Coffee Mornings for our Nursery Parents

New Outdoor Classroom

We are excited to open our outdoor classroom next half-term, enabling us to use the space, partly as a community hub. We are looking to hold parent coffee mornings later this half-term for our nursery parents. This will give you a chance to see your children’s work and really get a flavour of their learning experiences. You will also get a chance to get to know other parents and feel part of the Cwmdar Community.
